Hold fast to what you have, and let no one take it from you. Let no one hinder your reward. Let nothing stand in the way of your complete victory. Let no weariness or discouraging thought cause you to loosen the rope of faith, but bind it tighter and anchor fast to God's Word. God's Word never fails. (adapted from "Come Away My Beloved")
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

We are all called to be soldiers in Christ's army. A good soldier, renews his mind with God's Word, endures hardness, marches to different orders, knows his weapons, knows his mission, and never quits! Let's all commit to being goood soldiers in Christ's army.
II Timothy 2:1-4

Fan or Follower? On Sunday we start our series "not a fan". Over the next several weeks we will be challenged to DTR (define the relationship) that we have with Christ. We're all fans of different things. Sports, music, actors and many other things. Sports fans get excited and cheer when things go the way they like, but they boo and hiss when things don't go their way. A fan can be defined as an enthusiastic admirer. I think it is time we take a look at our relationship. A follower is committed to the cause, willing to take action and do whatever is necessary. A fan is content to watch and get excited at what he sees being accomplished. How about you, are you committed? Are you really a follower? Or do you just come to watch? You like what you see, but can't get involved. Most fans will never get asked or would never want to be asked to participate in the game. I really pray that you will open up your heart during these next several weeks and look at your relationship with Jesus and decide to define it. We are living in some of the most exciting and trying times that have ever been here on earth. Defining our relationship with Him is very critical in how we will stand through the days ahead. Let's get out of the stands and onto the field.

He is risen! This season of the year is so refreshing and beautiful. The flowers and trees are blooming and the world is vibrant with color. The birds and other wildlife are singing their songs which just adds to the beauty surrounding us. It is so awesome that we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ during this season. Let the sights and sounds of the season be a constant reminder of His grace and life bestowed upon us. He is the resurrected seed of life for everyone who accepts His call. We serve an awesome and mighty God able to meet every need we have and give us the ability to conquer every obstacle we face. He is alive and well in the earth today through our obedience to serve and heed His voice. I pray that you will look to Jesus as your source to fulfill your every need. God bless you and your family!

Weeds! You may be thinking, "Why are you writing about weeds?". Well let me explain. In our study of the Parable of the Sower the third type of soil the seed landed in what was weed infested soil. It wasn't what the soil lacked but what was in addition to the soil that was the problem (Modern Parables). The "worries of life" weeds cause us to lose focus on the provision of God for us. Also the "riches, wealth and pleasures" weeds can choke out the life of the believer if they are allowed occupy or change our focus. It's also not about how much you have or don't have, it's about where your importance is placed. If you want to bear fruit you must keep your focus on Christ and His purpose for your life. Don't allow any additions to your life to take precedence over your relationship with God or His family. "Then turning to his disciples, Jesus said, " That's what happens when you fill your barn with Self and not with God. Steep yourself in God-Reality. Don't fuss about what's on the table at mealtimes or if the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your inner life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes that hang on your body." (The Message Luke 12:21-23) Let's get the weeds out and let the seed of the Word grow to maturity in our lives!
