Peter Denies Knowing Jesus

Twelve hours earlier, Peter swore up and down that he would never betray Jesus – not if his life depended on it! But then Jesus was arrested, and Peter began to fear that his life did, in fact, depend on it. Would they arrest him, too? So, when he was asked if he knew Jesus, Peter said no. Three times he said no! And when he realized what he had done, he was heartbroken. He’d been afraid – even ashamed – to say that he was with Jesus. (Spoiler: Peter later did repent and Jesus forgave him!) It’s easy to be afraid of what people will think of us when they find out we follow Jesus. But Jesus is the best news ever. We shouldn’t let fear keep us from telling everybody about Him. Perhaps they’ll come to follow Him, too.
